Frequently asked questions

Room size / packs / waste

How do I work out how many packs I need?
Use the Room Size Calculator on each flooring product page. Enter your room length and width, choose a waste allowance, and it will recommend how many packs to order.

What is “waste allowance” and why do I need it?
Waste allowance covers off-cuts, trimming, doorways, alcoves, and any boards that can’t be used. Ordering slightly extra helps avoid delays if you run short.

Which waste allowance should I choose?
As a guide:
• Plank / straight lay: typically 7–12%
• Herringbone: typically 12–20%
• Chevron: typically 15–22%

Does the calculator include waste?
Yes — it calculates your room area, applies the waste %, then recommends packs based on that total.

Can I order extra packs “just in case”?
Yes, and it’s often recommended. If you’re unsure, order 1 extra pack (especially for patterned layouts) to cover future repairs or mistakes.

Coverage / pricing

Why do you show “Price per m²”?
Most customers compare flooring by square metre, but many wood floors are sold by the pack. We show Price per m² to make comparisons easy and transparent.

What does “Coverage per pack” mean?
That’s how many square metres you get in one pack. The calculator uses this figure to work out how many packs you’ll need.

Measuring tips

How do I measure my room properly?
Measure the longest length and width in metres. If the room is irregular, split it into rectangles, calculate each area, then add them together.

My room is not a perfect rectangle — will the calculator still work?
Yes, but for L-shapes or complex spaces, measure sections and add them, or choose a higher waste allowance.
